Pat Robertson, Compassionate Conservative
Every now and then, I see something in the news that makes my jaw drop.
Today it was this: http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/23/robertson.chavez/index.html
In a nutshell, Conservative Christian and host of The 700 Club, Pat Robertson, yesterday suggested that the U.S. take out Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. And by "take out," he didn't just mean "unseat" or "remove from power." No, he meant "take out," like assassinate, murder.
So, is it "Thou Shalt Kill" or is it "Thou Shalt Not Kill"? I guess for Mr. Robertson, that's one of the fuzzier Commandments.
Reminds me of that bumper sticker that always gives me a chuckle, something along the lines of "When Jesus said 'Love your enemies,' He probably meant 'Don't kill them.'"
Now, who are the religious extremists again?

I should have thought of this first -- would have made a much better title to my entry:
WWJA, or Who Would Jesus Assassinate?
